We're really proud of our great outdoors! We have so much space out there and the children really enjoy learning and discovering in the fresh air whatever the weather!
The Nature Garden is a wild and wonderful place! Children have worked hard to design and even construct parts of this tranquil spot! We have bumble bee boxes, bat boxes, bird boxes and even our own resident hedgehog!
The pond is teeming with life and a favourite amongst the children - pupils enjoy pond dipping and have been amazed by the variety of pond life we've aquired.
Built with the support of Barnsley Biodiversity Trust, the pond is a fantasic wildlife habitat and feature of our outdoor environment.
We loved our hens! We had six of them and they were all well looked after by the children, each class having their own. The children helped to feed, clean and collect eggs and learnt a great deal about caring for animals. We did however think they needed a change of scenery and that their pen needed to rest and be replanted so our chickens have gone on their holidays, to a local farm where they are very happy. We hope to get hens again in the Summer Term.
The allotment is thriving and producing some fantastic produce. Allotment group members work hard to tend the crops and meet regularly to discuss future plans.
Children visit the allotment regularly; learning about food production and gardening -they even organise the selling of crops to parents and visitors.
